Richard Brown

Richard Pic
Richard has been involved in Physical Therapy, Martial Arts and the Fitness Industry for over 20 years and is a prominent figure in Asia having written for publications such as the South China Morning Post and Asia Fit magazine.

Richard has studied with some of the worlds leading and innovative professionals in physical therapy, Pilates and sports training. He holds a BA (Hons) in Sports Science, Diploma in Acupuncture and a number of various certificates and diplomas in treatment modalities such as Muscle Energy, Trigger Point Therapy, Neuro-Musculo-Therapy, Shiatsu, Strain-Counterstrain, Myofascial Mapping and Release.

Richard also holds two 3rd degree blackbelts and one Shodan blackbelt in differing Martial Arts and has trained numerous Champions and medalists for Martial Arts.
Julianne Chen
Julianne

Julianne is the co-owner of Bodyworks and has a degree in Physical Education. Julianne began her career working as a fitness instructor before moving to Shanghai where she studied and began teaching Yoga. Despite her passion for Yoga Julianne found that it didn’t give her the in-depth knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology she was looking for. This search led her to study more Functional Movement disciplines of Pilates and Gyrotonic which she finds extremely valuable when working with clients with postural or musculo-skeletal imbalances.

Rebecca Zhu
Rebecca Zhu was a Roller Figure Skater, and a member of the Chinese National Team for 16 years.
In that time she was Chinese National Champion 11 times, as well winning three consecutive Asian Championships and placing 7th in the World Championships.

After retiring from competitive skating, Rebecca became a qualified Gym Instructor and Aerobics Teacher.

In 2002 she began her own practice in Yoga and Pilates.
Rebecca achieved National Certification as a qualified Yoga Instructor, as well as National Certification in Palates.
She is continuing her Pilates study with Internationally Accredited Pilates Organisations as part of her ongoing advancement in this field.
Rebecca currently holds accreditation and continues to study, with Polestar Pilates Education.
Eva
Eva Xu
Eva has practiced yoga for over ten years and is internationally certified through the Yoga Alliance. Eva has supplemented her knowledge of yoga through comprehensive study of anatomy and the Bodyworks Anatomy for Movement course. The desire to learn more about functional movement for the body led her to study Pilates in which she is certified in both the Mat and Studio Equipment. Eva has a strong passion for sharing her knowledge and the importance of leading a happy and healthy life - an outlook which is very evident in her approach to teaching.
Yama (Yu Liang)

Born in Shanghai 1969, Yama’s (Yu Liang) childhood was saturated with study of music and art. He had been a teacher of graphic design for 10 years and meanwhile continued his exploration in the field of music, literature, philosophy and mysticism. He started his journey of yoga in1995 with a great interest in ancient philosophy and the culture of India. He followed many great teachers and studied yoga systematically as a holistic science. He considers yoga a realization of our original ecstatic state. He was first certificated as a teacher by International Yoga Institute in Manila, Philippine in 2001, and started to teach yoga in 2002. He also studied extensively in Iyengar Yoga in Pune, Risikesh, India. In 2005, he graduated from Canadian yoga master Shakti mhi’s 200 hrs Pranayoga teacher training course, which is also certified by Yoga Alliance. Now, being a bilingual yoga teacher(English/Chinese), he is in Shanghai teaching regular Asana class, pranayama, yoga philosophy, meditation/mantra, teacher training courses, holding regular workshops, satsanga and chanting programs.

Walter started his career in the fitness industry as a Personal Trainer, and currently presents fitness workshops in China for AFAA (Aerobics Fitness Association of America)
He has been teaching Pilates since 2005 having studied and completed the internationally recognised Polestar Pilates certifications for which he now currently participates in the Polestar Pilates Mentor program.
Walter strives to lead each client into smoother and more efficient movement patterns through their session so that they may transfer them into their every day life.

Alfons Grabher holds a MSc in Biomedical Engineering and worked in the field of software engineering and consulting for over a decade. Besides being a passionate Judoka and Skateboarder, he studied extensively the spiritual aspects of Yoga. However with the years he got increasingly interested in methods that can help people make a lasting and positive change in their personal as well as work live. His path led him to numerous management and couching seminars, Reiki and working with sound (Didgeridoo, Toning), but ultimately fell for the subtle yet profound ways the Feldenkrais Method has to offer. He completed his training in the Feldenkrais Method in 2008 in Munich/Germany, where he studied with Paul Newton, Ned Dwelle and Jeremy Kraus.
